Zafferana Etnea (574m) situated below “Valle del Bove”, a volcanic valley on the east slope, is famous for the “Ottobrata”, a festival celebrating every Sunday in October the harvest of mushrooms, wine, grapes, chest-nuts and above all the delicious honey of the village. Thanks to its central location both winter sports facilities on Etna and the beaches of Taormina, Giardini-Naxos or the Cyclops Coast can be easily reached.

No wonder that numerous “agriturismo” (farm holiday) resorts as well as elegant hotels discovered the marvellous landscape of vast orchards on the lower slopes of the volcano - not only at Zafferana, but also in various villages close to the “Lemons Coast” around Giarre-Riposto.
